Here’s what past students have to say about this workshop:

“I just came back from the 3 Day Pants or Jeans Fitting Workshop in Nashville and Jennifer is top-notch – a cut above the rest! She truly enjoys solving the mysteries in fit and takes it as a personal & exciting challenge to resolve. She is positive throughout the workshop and stressed to each of us to relax, enjoy the process, and have fun! I am new to sewing, but have drafted up many pants muslins unsuccessfully. I am someone who gets frustrated when things don’t go as I’d like it to and a perfectionist. But with her cheery optimism, Jennifer would check in, help you figure it out, and if you still didn’t get it, she approached it from a different way. Now I have a great fitting muslin and am ready to sew my first pair pants. Along with this course, we have a follow-up Zoom Meeting to ask more questions and can even reach out for additional help. That’s pretty awesome if you ask me! My recommendation for any new sewists who takes this class is to do some homework on pants construction and sew up a sample before going. But even then, Jennifer is ready and willing to help! I highly recommend her class!” ~ Alisha

3-Days of Pants Fitting Fun – Starting Where You Are In Your Pants Fitting Process

If you’re deep into a pants‑fitting project and feeling stuck, this workshop is designed with you in mind. Over three full days, we’ll work through the complete pants‑fitting process—but with a new, highly personalized twist. Instead of starting from scratch, you’ll learn how to apply my fitting method directly to your in‑progress muslin, so you can finally move that project forward with clarity and confidence.

This approach allows us to dig deeper into the “why” behind each wrinkle. You’ll see exactly how changes to the pattern influence the fit of your muslin, how to correct issues when things start drifting off course, and how to make thoughtful, targeted adjustments that support your unique shape.

To help us hit the ground running, I encourage you to send clear front/side/back photos of your muslin ahead of the workshop—along with the pattern pieces you used to cut it. This preparation lets me understand where you are in the process and tailor guidance specifically to your project.

If you would prefer starting from scratch, you can choose between working with The Sorcha Classic Slim Trousers or a Pants Pattern of Your Choice.

Choose between working with a pants pattern in your stash or my Sorcha Classic Slim Trousers pattern.  You will leave class with the tools and confidence to fit and sew any style pants.   (Fabric to sew the fit muslin is included with the class registration fee.)   If you would like to test fit your first pair of pants on Sunday, please check for yardage for your size pants.  If you’re working with Sorcha Classic Slim Trousers the size/yardage charts  can be found in the photo gallery.  I loved having the opportunity to see how their adjusted pants pattern fit in the fashion fabrics they brought with them.  *If you’re bringing your pants fitting project with you, I will have fabric available to cut out a second fit muslin if you need it*

Whether you’re working with your in-progress pants muslin and pattern OR starting from scratch here are some of the things we will cover in class.

Learn How to Customize the Pants Pattern to Agree with Your Shape

One of my favorite fitting secrets: some of the most important shaping happens right in the center front and center back seams. I’ll show you how to use these edges to create pattern pieces that follow your curves and help the fabric hang beautifully.

From there, we’ll prepare your customized pattern pieces and move into muslin‑making. Using a single‑leg muslin and a separate fitting waistband, we’ll begin fitting on the first afternoon. Our method is inspired by the Top Down Center Out framework, as described by R. Collins in Threads Magazine Issue #218—and a copy of the article is included in your class kit.

Learn How to Adjust the Length of the Crotch from Both Ends

One of the most useful things about working with a single leg muslin is that you can add extra fit allowances to the inseams.  This is not  possible with a two leg muslin because the extra fit allowances will be bunched up, making it hard to see how the crotch is fitting.  In the single leg muslin, the inseam can be let out to extend the crotch points if needed (instead of making all the adjustments at the waistline).  Before cutting out the second leg, the inseam allowance is trimmed back to 1/2″.

One of the things that may need to be adjusted is the final position of the crotch curve. The crotch may not be able to be pulled up into a comfortable position from  the waistline.  This depends on  how closely the shape of the crotch curve agrees with your figure and how close fitting the pattern is designed to be.   If the shape of the pattern is significantly different from your body shape, I’ll show you how to get it in the right spot.

Learn how to adjust the position of the base of the crotch without affecting the other vertical dimensions of the pattern. You can also play with the ease along the leg, by adjusting both the side and inseams.  You will have time to practice solo pants fitting in front of a two mirror set-up, so when you go home, you will feel empowered to fit pants by yourself.

Discover How to Accurately Transfer Adjustments from the Fit Muslin to Your Paper Pattern

One of the pitfalls in fitting is making mistakes when you’re transferring adjustments from your fit muslin to your paper pattern pieces.  I’ll show you how to transfer the adjustments  as you work along instead of waiting until the end of the process.  This makes it so much easier to end up with an accurately adjusted pattern in the end.

Make Your Non-Stretch Pants Fit Waistband Before You Come

There is a little bit of HOMEWORK… Please make a pants fitting waistband and bring it with you when you come.  This will allow us to maximize our time during the workshop.  Instructions to make the non-stretch pants fitting workshop will be sent to you after registration. You can also check out this  tutorial on my YouTube Channel.  Please make this pants fitting waistband and bring it to class to use with your existing pants muslin or the one you will make from scratch.

This workshop is limited to 10 students so we have time to dive in deep!

Here are all the Details.  This PDF  along with instructions to make your non-stretch pants fit muslin will also be emailed to you when you register:

Hi Alisha, Thank you so much sharing your experience in the Nashville 3-Day Pants Fitting Workshop (and also for the kind words!). It was fun to help you fit your pants… and you did a wonderful job working on your pants muslin. Thank you for mentioning the construction samples, I will be bringing them to the next one. 🙂

I just finished 3-day pants fitting workshop. This was a very FUN weekend and Jennifer helped me solve fitting issues. She also taught us how to approach fitting in other style patterns and fabrics. Jennifer is a skilled and knowledgeable teacher and she is very generous in sharing her expertise. I gained some new friends and had a great time. If you ever have the opportunity to attend her workshop or take a class from her, take advantage of it. You will not be sorry. Thank you so much, Jennifer. I would give 10 stars if that were a choice!

I had the privilege of attending Jennifer’s 3-Day Pants Fitting Workshop in August 2025. Not only is she very knowledgeable about All Things Pants, she is an outstanding educator. Her Whole Scoop method of fitting pants is innovative, and while it is not a simple method (is any pants-fitting method simple?), it is effective. When the method is coupled with her extensive experience, I doubt there is any fitting challenge she cannot solve. She also has a knack for explaining methods in various ways so if one explanation does not hit the mark, she can pivot to come at the problem from a different angle, one that invariably resonates with the student. Jennifer is personable and enthusiastic, making our class most enjoyable. I highly recommend taking one of her classes.
