Description
The New Companion Fit Guide for Stretch Jeans Made Easy is a printable, comprehensive step-by-step guide. Did you know that your shape affects how you adjust the crotch length of your pattern? Start by identifying where you need extra ease and where you have don’t. Then pick the method to adjust the crotch that works with your shape. After you get the pattern to agree with your crotch length, learn how to adjust the shape of the crotch curve based on where your fullest hip is. Basically, the lower your full hip is the flatter your back crotch curve will be.
Did you know that a small portion of the pattern upper thigh measurement is taken up by the horizontal space between your legs? Check out the first page of the Companion Fit Guide for Stretch Jeans Made Easy in the Photo Gallery below.
Use your adjusted pattern pieces to sew together a stretch jean fit muslin. Make sure to transfer the horizontal and vertical grainlines to your muslin pieces. I’ll show you what they’re trying to tell you if they’re not hanging straight. To fine tune the fit of your stretch jeans consult the Wrinkle Chart to smooth front and back crotch wrinkles.
Don’t forget to check your side view. Loose diagonal wrinkles that start in the front and end in the back mean that the back leg has too much vertical length.
The Companion Fit Guide includes crotch length and upper thigh pattern measurements for the Stretch Jeans Made Easy Pattern. You can also use this guide with stretch jean patterns already in your stash.
