For 2020 I’ve given The Happy Pants Pattern a little update. I’ve been trying different things to make it easy for students to get to a perfectly fitted pair of pants. Every time I teach a workshop, the same fitting challenges pop up. One of the most common is the shape of the crotch curve. All the scooping and shape changing can cause other things to get messed up. For example, if you scoop down to get the crotch curve in the right place, the inseam may become too short. Instead of working with a single pants sloper, I’ve designed three.
I’m focusing on where the fullest part of the hip (behind) is. Generally women can have a High Full Hip, and Average Full Hip, or a Low Full Hip. Because the shape of the back crotch curve is significantly different for each… The only lucky ladies are the ones that happen to have a shape that’s similar to the pattern. This is what inspired me to create three pants slopers with crotch curves that best fit a high, average and low full hip. Now everyone can start closer to the goal. Happy Pants here we come!!
