Comfy Clothes in a Weekend @ The Cool Stitches Pop Up Sewing Lounge Wrap Up

Hey Everyone,   I wanted to take a moment and share all the fun we had this past weekend.  I drove up to Fleming Island on Saturday afternoon from Orlando.  On the way, I passed the Daytona 500 Speedway.  I arrived with perfect timing to join Debbi and her parents for a yummy dinner at her house.    I stayed with Debbi’s parents, who lived right around the corner.   On Sunday we prepared and set up for the workshop.  Debbi’s mom, Darlene was amazing… she made all the yummy food we had for breakfast, lunch and dinner!  It was really nice to be able to stop and eat without having go anywhere.

The great thing about working with knit fabric is that it’s very forgiving… Perfect for sewers of all skill levels.  One of the students who came to the workshop was a blogger from The Jacksonville Mom’s Blog.   Mischelle Storm (great name… right?)  joined us with very little sewing experience.  She had to take a sewing class in college and hasn’t revved up her machine since.     She was a little nervous about participating… but in the end she made a very nice pair of yoga pants and a tee that look and fit great!

We also had two ladies all the way from Michigan!  Lana and Karen came out together to make Comfy Clothes.  They were so fun.  We had to room till midnight.   I was able to hang till around 9:00, but these to ladies kept Debbi in good company all night long!

Some ladies worked on their sewing machines and others brought their Baby Lock Ovation Sergers.   Plus Debbi brought her serger with her so students could try it out.   You can definitely get amazing results sewing knits on a sewing machine…  When student modeled their new outfits, it was almost impossible to tell which way they were constructed.   The really difference is on the inside.  Because a serger sews and finishes the seam allowances all in one step,  the inside of the garment looks much more professional.  A couple of the ladies who were working with their sewing machines  decided they needed a serger after trying Debbi’s.

In the end we had an amazing time.  This event was only one of many exciting things that Debbi has planned in the Cool Stitches Pop-Up Sewing Lounge.  If you couldn’t make it this time, definitely check out the schedule to see what’s going on next.   There is something special about attending a hands-on workshop that you can’t get from learning online.   I made some wonderful new friends!  Plus, I love meeting students who take my online classes or  watch video tutorials on my YouTube Channel.     🙂
