Join Me for the Last Pants Fitting Workshop Opportunity in 2026

If you’ve been wrestling with a pants‑fitting project—pinning, tweaking, second‑guessing, and wondering why that one wrinkle will not disappear—you’re not alone. Pants fitting is one of the most challenging (and most rewarding!) skills in garment sewing. And when you finally get a pair of pants that fits beautifully? It changes everything.  Check out the fit of the pants muslin above.

That’s exactly why I changed up my 3‑Day Pants Fitting Workshop—a deep‑dive, hands‑on experience designed to meet you exactly where you are in your fitting journey. Whether you’re stuck on an in‑progress muslin or ready to start fresh, these three days will give you clarity, confidence, and a repeatable method you can use for every pair of pants you sew.

Start Where You Are…Or Start From Scratch

If you already have a muslin in progress, bring it! You’ll learn how to apply my fitting method directly to the work you’ve already done. We’ll dig into the “why” behind each wrinkle, explore how pattern changes affect the fit of your muslin, and make thoughtful adjustments that support your unique shape.

To help us hit the ground running, you’re encouraged to send front/side/back photos of your muslin ahead of time—along with the pattern pieces you used. This lets me tailor guidance specifically to your project before you even arrive.

I usually begin my workshop with a brand‑new pattern and a clean slate. You can still do that if you don’t have a  muslin you want to keep working on. You can work with The Sorcha Classic Slim Trousers.   Fabric for your fit muslin is included with registration.

What You’ll Learn Over Three Transformative Days

Customize the Pattern to Agree With Your Shape

Some of the most powerful shaping happens right at the center front and center back seams. I’ll show you how to use these edges to create pattern pieces that follow your curves and help the fabric hang beautifully.

Fit Using a Single-Leg Muslin

If you’re working with a fit muslin is progress, we may take it apart at the crotch seam so we can work with a single leg.   If you’re starting from scratch, we’ll prepare your customized pattern pieces and move into muslin‑making. Using a single‑leg muslin and a separate fitting waistband, we begin fitting on the first afternoon. This method is inspired by the Top Down Center Out framework (Threads Magazine Issue #218), and a copy of the article is included in your class kit.

Adjust the Crotch Length—From Both Ends

One of the biggest advantages of a single‑leg muslin is the ability to add extra fit allowances to the inseam. You’ll learn how to:

  • Extend crotch points without relying solely on the waistline

  • Position the crotch curve so it agrees with your body

  • Adjust ease along the leg using both side and inseams

You’ll also have time to practice solo pants fitting using a two‑mirror setup—so you leave feeling empowered to fit pants on your own at home.

Transfer Adjustments Accurately

One of the most common pitfalls in pants fitting is transferring adjustments incorrectly. I’ll show you how to transfer changes as you go, so your final pattern is accurate and ready for real fabric.

A Little Homework Before You Come

Please make a non‑stretch pants fitting waistband and bring it with you. Instructions will be sent after registration, and you can also follow the tutorial on my YouTube channel. This small bit of prep lets us maximize our time together.

If you’re bringing an in‑progress project, we will be working with this separate pants fitting waistband paired with your muslin.

Why This Workshop Works

Working with pants fitting muslins in progress from the start will benefit the whole class.   Part of learning how to fit pants is being able to see wrinkles and know what’s causing  them.   If you’re bringing your pants fit muslin with you, not only will this help you, it will also inspire the entire class.   Seeing different examples of how a pants muslin fit and how to improve them is so helpful.  Three days turns out to be the perfect amount of time for pants fitting. In previous sessions, students stayed relaxed, focused, and never felt rushed. Many even had time to test fit their freshly fitted pattern on Sunday—and seeing their adjusted patterns come to life in real fashion fabric was a highlight for everyone.

This workshop is intentionally limited to 10 students so we can dive deep. With only 8 spots left, now is the perfect moment to reserve your seat.

Thanks for reading this post till the end! Before you go, check out the adjusted pants muslin above. This is the fitted version of the pants muslin at the top of the post. Here’s a fun fact for you. Have you ever wondered why the hem of your pants look like they’re flared when you know the pattern features a straight leg?? Here’s why – The leg of the pants muslin is “filled” with your upper thigh, thigh, knee and calf. By the time it reaches the hem, your ankle is not big enough to fill up the space inside the the leg, so it collapses or lays flatter. This flatter shape makes the hem look flared! The important thing to notice about the hem is if it’s parallel to the floor, that’s why we work with capris length pants muslins – so the hem is not puddling on your foot.
