I Debuted 2 New Fabrics at Stitches United

I had an awesome weekend… I debuted 2 New Fabrics at Stitches United this Past Weekend.   In my Easy Yoga Pants and Beyond Class, I was super excited to offer students two patterns and two fabrics to choose from.   In addition to my Easy Fit and Sew Yoga Pants Pattern, I also gave students the choice to try my new Trident Yoga Pants Pattern.  This pattern has a three-piece leg that creates a slimming look because of the vertical seams strategically places at side front and center back.  My favorite pair are the ones that I used gray for the center front/back pieces and black for the side panels.  I advised students to choose the pattern they wanted to work on based on how comfortable they were with sewing knits…. One or three seams per leg.

After choosing a pattern and making fit adjustments, the last thing to do is pick a fabric.   I brought my Performance Sports Knit in a new Color – Dark Navy.  This double brushed polyester is super comfortable.   I also added a new fabric –  Compression Sports Knit.  This Supplex Nylon Knit Fabric has just the right amount of compression to smooth all your curves without being too tight.  Of course I made myself a pair of pants the minute the fabric arrived.  I was instantly in love with the fit and feel of them.   After wearing them all day, I was hooked!  The waistband stayed put, and they really held their shape.  Plus, they kept me cool and comfortable.

I was really interested to see how this new fabric would fit and what the ladies thought about it.   Because this was the first time I have taught the Yoga Pants class with two patterns and two fabrics, I forgot to take some photos along the way.   Some ladies finished much quicker and left before I could even organize a group photo at the end of class.   Happily, one of my students, Rachel, took pics during class and she graciously shared them with me.   Here she is sewing her Trident Yoga Pants together using the black compression knit fabric.

After sewing the side front and back seams together, she took a pic of her legs.   You can see the two seams that construct the leg.

Then it was just a matter of sewing the inseams together and adding the waistband.  When Rachel tried on her new yoga pants, she was thrilled…  They fit great.   I’m so happy that she took the time to take these pics… (Thank You Rachel <3).

This class really fun for me to teach.   If you’re planning on joining us at Stitches Midwest, August 2 – 5…  There are a few spaces left in this class… I’d love to have you!!
