What I'm Working On

Spring Break = Skort and Simple & Nike Dri Fit Pants Repair

It’s Spring Break at J Stern Designs…  Anna was on spring break last week and Abby’s home this week.   I really miss my girls, so I’m always happy to have them home.  In addition to the dirty laundry they bring home, there are usually a few “projects” for me.  This time, I had projects of my own for Anna.  I was busy testing my new Skort and Simple Pattern.  I decided that she needed some Skorts (and Tees) to bring back to school with her…  So I tested her size. Using her measurements she was a size 4XL according to the chart on the back of the pattern.  I’m happy to report that I sewed her skort “as is” in the envelop. It was a perfect fit.

First, I had her try on the shorts.  She was totally unimpressed.   When I put the skirt together with the shorts, she was thrilled.  I could see by the look on her face that she really liked it, even before she said that she did.  I’m so happy that I was able to make her some new outfits that fit great to take back to school.   For her top, I started with the Tee from the  Tee Twin Set and I made some fit and style adjustments.  If you are a member of JSD Fitting and Pattern Perfection, I showed all the juicy details during Fabulous Fit Friday FB Live.    I will release The New Skort and Simple Pattern on Monday, March 12, 2018.

Abby didn’t disappoint me, she came home from school with a project.  Her Eastern Volleyball Nike Dri Fit Pants had holes in the seam near the crotch…

When she asked me if I could fix them, I thought I was going to drag out my serger and zip the seam back together with a 4-Thread Stitch.   When I examined the seam, I realized that it was the perfect time to pull out my Eloflex Thread and use my sewing machine to do the job.   I am sharing details in the March Newsletter (If you haven’t signed up yet, there is a form on the right side of the screen.)   I also decided it would make an interesting quick video tutorial too.
